内容記述 | The importance of cell adhesion molecules for lymphokine activated killer (LAK) cells, both in their formation of antigen independent binding and in their lysis of target cells were reported. We examined the expression of lymphocyte function associated antigen 1 (LFA-1), intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1), and CD2 on LAK and target cells. Although expression levels of LFA-1 and CD2 on LAK were the same as on T cells and lymphocytes, the target cells and LAK cells showed higher binding formation than the target cells and lymphocytes. The cytolytic activity and binding activity of LAK cells were partially inhibited by treatment with anti-CD2, anti-LFA-1, or anti-ICAM-1Ab, and almost completely inhibited by anti-CD2 and anti-LFA-1Ab in combination. Preincubation of LAK cells with ICAM-1Ab, did not inhibit the cytolytic activity of LAK cells, but preincubation of target cells with anti-ICAM-1Ab did. These studies demonstrated two distinct pathways of LAK cell binding formation of LAK and target cells caused cytotoxicity. The expression of LFA-1 on LAK cells and of ICAM-1 on the target cells were considered to play important roles in the activity of LAK cells. | |||||||||||||
