Tea houses are one method of protecting tea culture. This article examines the changing functions of teahouses and the culture of the city. The teahouses on the historical and cultural streets, the special and unique buildings of the city, reveal the changing functions and the culture of the city. Since ancient times, Suzhou has had a highly developed agricultural industry, with continually expanding farmland, a wide variety of agricultural products and commercial agriculture. Tea was similarly given special treatment and industrialised. Suzhou has had a preference for tea since ancient times. Tea houses were important public spaces in the lives of Suzhou citizens, not only for leisure, but also for socialising, exchanging information and discussing local matters.
