内容記述 | Pravastation (10 mg/day) was administered to 259 patients with primary hypercholesterolemia for 12 months, and the serum lipid and apoproteins levels were measured. Any side effect were also recorded. The mean total cholesterol level decreased to below 220 mg/dl after 1 month of the treatment and this effect lasted throughout the study. The rate of decrease in total cholesterol level was not different between the age groups. A marked decrease in the LDL cholesterol level was observed, and the rate of its decrease was higher than that of the total cholesterol level. The HDL cholesterol level increased significantly. This increase was remarked especially in the patents with a low pre-administration level of HDL cholesterol or with hypertriglyceridemia. The level of apoprotein A-1 changed similarly to that of HDL cholesterol, the level of apoprotein B similarly to that of LDL cholesterol, and the level of apoprotein E similarly to that of triglgceride. These findings suggested that pravastation increases HDL particles, decreases LDL particles. and improves VLDL metabolism. No significant changes in the loboratory data including CPK and no adverse symptoms were observed. | |||||||||||||||||||||
