| 内容記述 | Hypotensive effects of two Siamese plants, Imperata cylindrica (I.c.) and Phyllanthus emblica (P.e.), extracts were examined using SHRSP. Oral administration of 50% methanol extract (10 mg/kg) of I.c. and P.e. decreased the systolic blood pressure (SBP) by 9% and 6%, respectively, at 3 hours after administration. 10 and 30 mg/kg water soluble fraction from P.e. extract decreased SBP by 3% and 5%, respectively. On the contrary, 10 mg/kg of the ethyl ether soluble fraction elevated SBP by 9% and 5% at 2 and 3 hours after administration, respectively. On the other hand, 10 and 30 mg/kg water soluble fraction from the I.c. extract caused significant decreases of SBP by 7% and 8% in values, respectively, at 3 hours after administration, and 20% methanol eluate (10 mg/kg p.o.) decharged from the HP-20 adsorptive column chromatography of the fraction showed more prominent hypotensive activity (9% in value). Both plants I.c. and P.e., therefore, contain polar hypotensive compound (s) soluble in water, especially possessing stronger activity in I.c. than P.e. These hypotensive actions will proceed directly in the cardiovascular system, but not indirectly through a diuretic action which has been recognized in traditional medicine, because the action appears within 1-3 hours even p.o. dosage. The clinical treatment of hypertension using these plant extracts should be effective. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
