In 1995, on his retirement, he summarised his research activities in his book \"Institutions and Organisations\", which is examined in this paper. In his view, since the mid-1960s, institutional theory burst in the organisational arena, generating much interest and attention. This dominance of institutionalism began after the mid-1960s, when the concept of open systems was introduced into the study of organisational theory. But institutionalists could hardly be found, when the field of organisation was established as a specialised scientific department. It was not only economists, political scientists and sociologists, but also researchers in organisational behaviour theory, organisational theory, management theory and strategy theory who related and developed institutional theory to the field of organisations.
