| 内容記述 | 【本旨】 スコットは, 生粋の社会学者であり, 制度論者 (institutionalist) である。1995年に, スコットは, 退職に際して, 自らの研究活動を纏めて, 本稿で検討する『制度と組織』 (Institutions and Organizations) を出版した。彼の見解では, 1960年代の中頃以降, 制度論 (institutional theory) は, 組織の舞台に突然出現し, 多くの関心と注目を生んできた。この制度論の優勢は, オープン・システム (open system) の概念を組織論の研究に導入した, 1960年代中頃以降に始まった。しかし, 組織のフィールド (field) が科学上の専門部門として設立された時には, 制度主義者はほとんど見付けられなかった。制度論を組織の領域に関係付け, 発展させたのは, 経済学者, 政治学者と社会学者だけでなくて, 組織行動論 (organization behavior theory), 組織論，マネジメント論と戦略論の研究者らである。彼らは, 1960年代から普及した, 新制度主義 (new-institutionalism) という用語を用いるが, サイモンの新しい見方による「限定された合理性」という概念が共有されている。 | |||||||||

| 内容記述 | Scott, R. is a genuine sociologist and institutionalist. In 1995, on his retirement, he summarised his research activities in his book "Institutions and Organisations", which is examined in this paper. In his view, since the mid-1960s, institutional theory burst in the organisational arena, generating much interest and attention. This dominance of institutionalism began after the mid-1960s, when the concept of open systems was introduced into the study of organisational theory. But institutionalists could hardly be found, when the field of organisation was established as a specialised scientific department. It was not only economists, political scientists and sociologists, but also researchers in organisational behaviour theory, organisational theory, management theory and strategy theory who related and developed institutional theory to the field of organisations. They use the nomenclature of new-institutionalism, popularized since the 1960s, and sharing Simon's new view of the concept of "bounded rationality". | |||||||||
