内容記述 | The effects of blood transfusion on regional immunological competence in the live were evaluated. Whole blood or red blood cell was transfused to mice with different H-2 types and the changes in anti-tumor activity or the changes in subpopulation of liver-associated lymphocytes were examined. Furthermore, colon 26 tumor cells were infused via the portal vein into mice 1 week after blood transfusion and nodules of hepatic metastases were counted. The natural killer activity and natural cytotoxic activity of liver-associated lymphocytes were markedly inhibited in mice 2 weeks after transfusion of either whole blood transfusion or red blood cell. In the hepatic metastases model, the number of hepatic metastatic nodules was increased by transfusion of whole blood or red blood cell and the survival period was reduced. The above results suggest that blood transfusion inhibits regional immunological competence in the liver and accelerates hepatic metastasis. Further, it was shown that Ia antigen positive cells (mainly Kupffer cells) were involved not only when whole blood is used, but also when red blood cell is used. Thus, it was suggested that this effect can not be avoided by transfusion of concentrated red blood cell or washed red blood cell, which is the recommended clinical practice. | |||||||||||||
