| 内容記述 | Many previous studies reported that human papilloma virus (HPV) 16 or 18 DNA were involved in cervical cancer. To investigate the natural history of cervical HPV infection, HPV 16 or 18 DNA were examined in cytological normal cervices by the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method, and a prospective follow up study was performed. HPV 16 or 18 DNA were detected in 6.8% (51/745) of cytologically normal cervices. Fifty one women with HPV 16 or 18 DNA were prospectively follow up since 1989 for periods ranging from 7 months to 3 years. During the follow up period, 42 of 51 women with HPV 16 or 18 DNA experienced spontaneous regression. Only 4 of 9 patients with persistent HPV 16 or 18 DNA progressed to dysplasia. These results indicated that a few women with cytologically normal cervices had HPV 16 or 18 DNA and persistence of HPV 16 or 18 DNA plays an important role in progress to dysplasia of the uterine cervix. | |||||||||||||
