| 内容記述 | An autopsy case of herpetic esophagitis which concomitantly showed proliferation of Candida and bacteria in the same lesion was reported. The patient was a 66-year old Japanese female who had been treated for uterine endometrial carcinoma. Autopsy revealed esophagitis with cytologic changes due to viral infection in the esophageal epithelium along with pseudomycelia and bacterial colonies. Immunohistochemistry using monoclonal antibody to herpes-simplexvirus type 1 (HSV-1) revealed HSV-1 antigen in the esophageal epithelium. The pseudomycelia was positive to the anti-Candida antiserum. It is useful to detect antigens of pathogens by immunohistochemistry in addition to morphological differentiation for a confirming diagnosis. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
