| 内容記述 | 小学校内での民族間関係の現状を調査するため21の小学校でアンケートを実施した（今後実施予定分を含む）。全校生徒に占める原住民フィジー人（イタウケイ）もしくはインド系の割合に応じて小学校を３つに分類し（強い単一民族傾向がある、単一民族傾向がある、他民族傾向がある）、民族間交流のレベルと民族間関係の関係性を考察した。学校内の民族比率に関係なく総体的に他民族に対する偏見は少なく、また寛容度も高く、両者間の民族間関係は悪くないことが明らかとなった。しかしながら、他民族への偏見は、単一民族傾向が強くなるほど高くなり、また他民族への寛容度は、単一民族傾向が強くなるほど低くなることが明らかとなった。 | |||||||||

| 内容記述 | To examine inter-ethnic relationships within primary schools, surveys were conducted among students in 21 primary schools in Fiji (including those planned for future implementation). The schools were classified into three categories based on the proportion of indigenous Fijians (iTaukei) or Indo-Fijians among the total student population: strongly ethnically homogenous tendency, ethnically homogeneous tendency, and multiethnic tendency. The impact of the level of inter-ethnic interaction on inter-ethnic relationships was analysed. It was found that, overall, regardless of the ethnic composition within the schools, there was little prejudice against other ethnic groups, and tolerance was high, indicating that inter-ethnic relationships were generally good. However, it was also revealed that prejudice against other ethnic groups increased, and tolerance towards other ethnic groups decreased, as the tendency towards an ethnically homogeneous environment strengthened. | |||||||||
