内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 To examine the relativity of some mechanical factors in the progressive changes of osteoarthrosis, stress analysis was performed using finite element models of the tibio-femoral joint. A two dimensional finite element model was employed to calculate stress distributions in the medial condyle of tibia, according to material properties and thickness of the surface and middle layers of cartilage, calcified cartilage, and subchondral bone. Gap elements which basically allowed slip and separation were incorporated at the contact surface of the tibio-femoral joint, and secondary the friction problem was considered. Von Mises stresses were calculated. With the increase in the elastic moduli of the surface of middle layers, peak stress at the calcified cartilage and subchondral bone was increased toward the center of the knee, and with the reduction in the number of Poisson's ratio, the stress was increased directly under the loaded area of the surface and middle layers of cartilage. With the reduction in the thickness of the surface and middle layers, the stress was increased at the cartilage and subchondral bone plate. With the increase in the friction ratio at the contact surface, the stress was increased at subchondral boate plate. With the increase in the thickness of the mineralized layer, the stress at the middle layer of cartilage was increased. Stress distributions at the calcified cartilage and subchondral bone were significantly influenced by the difference in the material properties of the surface and middle layers of cartilage. Stress distributions at the surface and middle layers of cartilage were slightly influenced by a low grade change of the mineralized layer.
