Standard weight of the heart, liver and kidneys in healthy Japanese was performed. Most of the samples were forensic autopsied by the Department of Legal Medicine, Kinki University School of Medicine and Osaka Medical Examiner's Office during the past five years. The total number of cases was 5491,including males and females. The mean normal weight of the heart, liver and kidney was determined by age group, and gender. The weights of the heart, liver and kidney increased with aging. Each organ reached a maximum weight in the thirties in males, and forties in females. After the maximum respective age, the liver and kidney decreased in weight. There are hardly any significant gender differences in the weight of these three organs before the middle teens. |
