| 内容記述 | A 25-year-old male with carcinoid tumor in the thymus and a familial history was hospitalized because of right chest pain and anterior mediastinal mass shadow on chest X-ray. The examinations, including CT, MRI and echocardiography, revealed malignant thymoma. Excision of the tumor was performed by the sternal splitting approach. Histological examination confirmed a carcinoid tumor of the thymus which was similar to his father's diagnosis. He was discharged after 30 Gy radiation therapy to the mediastinum. His father had died of recurrence of carcinoid of the thymus dispite of surgical excision, radiation and chemotherapy. It is reported that carcinoid tumor of the thymus has been associated with familial multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN). Therefore, it seems that this case was accompanied by MEN or other geneitic predisposition. Clinical findings of this disease with emphasis on treatment and prognosis are reviewed. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
