| 内容記述 | To elucidate the role of free radicals on cerebral ischemic injury, the uric acid content and SOD activity were examined using SHRSP and WKY cerebral cortex under anti-hypertensive treatment. No difference was found in the uric acid content between the controls and the treated group of WKY. In SHRSP, uric acid content was extremely high in the controls compared to that in WKY, whereas captopril-treated SHRSP were similar to WKY. In the WKY cerebral cortex, there was no difference in SOD activity between the two groups. In treated SHRSP, SOD activity was significantly higher than that in control SHRSP. These results suggest the important role of superoxide anion in cerebral injury, because superoxides originated in the catabolic pathway from xanthine-xanthine oxidase to uric acid. | |||||||||||||
