| 内容記述 | Although it is known that in osteoarthritis, a common pathway of joint deterioration results from mechanical stress on the joint tissue, the underlying mechanism has not been clarified. To elucidate this problem, cyclic tensile stretch was loaded on rabbit and bovine articular chondrocytes. Cyclic stretch reduced keratan sulfate release and enhanced glycosaminoglycan release from the chondrocytes into the medium. Cyclic stretch also reduced proteoglycan synthesis and protein kinase C was clearly involved in this action. Further, cyclic stretch enhanced nitric oxide synthesis, leading to the inhibition of proteoglycan synthesis. These data suggest that mechanical stress on the chondrocyte modulates its metabolism via protein kinase C and nitric oxide. | |||||||||
