内容記述 | During the destruction of articular cartilage, fibrinolytic enzymes and matrix metalloproteinses (MMPs) may contribute actively to the pathogenetic mechanism. The activities and antigens of urokinase-type plasminogen activator (u-PA) and plasminogen activator inhibito-1 (PAI-1) were measured in the articular cartilage of patients with no history of joint diseases (normal), osteoarthritis (OA) classified into osteophyteformed area (OFA) and weight-bearing area (WBA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The u-PA content was higher in WBA and RA than normal. The PAI-1 content was higher in OFA and RA than normal. WBA expressed a high u-PA mRNA level. OFA expressed a low u-PA mRNA level. The levels of the MMPs and mRNAs of the tissue inhibitors of metallaproteinases (TIMPs) were measured in WBA, OFA and RA. In WBA, the levels of MMPs were high and levels of TIMPs mRNAs expression low. In OFA, the levels of TIMPs were high and levels of MMPs mRNAs were low. In RA, the levels of MMPs and TIMPs mRNAs were high. This study suggests that regulation that regulation of fibrinolysis could play an important role in the matrix of articular cartilage with arthropaththy. | |||||||||
