| 内容記述 | 「パターナリズム（paternalism）」や「功利主義（utility）」の蓄える意味合いが、どのように歴史的に変遷したのか、あるいはそのような変遷がどのように経済思想の歴史的展開と関連しうるのかという問題について、18世紀後半から20世紀前半にかけて活躍した主要な英国経済学者らによる一次文献ならびにデジタルアーカイブズにおける実際の用例に注目しながら調査・分析を実施した。その結果、とりわけ19世紀末から20世紀初頭にかけて、パターナリズムがネガティブな意味合いを帯びる一方、経済学者らは功利主義のアイデアを積極的に理論的展開に援用することになった点等を論文や研究報告等を通じて公刊・発表した。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | The aim of this research is to investigate the historical evolution of the meanings of "paternalism" or "utilitarianism" and their relationship with the development of economic thought. The study focused on primary sources from major British economists who contributed to the development of economics from the late 18th century to the early 20th century, as well as actual examples of the usages of the words in digital archives. As a result, it was found that particularly from the late 19th century to the early 20th century, while paternalism took on a negative connotation, economists positively used the idea of utility in theoretical development, which was published and presented in papers and research presentations. | |||||
