| 内容記述 | Developing communication skills has been one of the main objectives in the secondary English education, and expressing ideas and feelings is one of the basic communication skills. However, most university students have not experienced any speech activities where they had to express themselves in English. Considering this situation, the author introduced a 'show & Tell' speech activity in order to give students a chance to develop self-expression skills. Affective factors were taken into consideration when introducing the activity so that the students were able to gradually develop confidence when giving oral presentations. According to a questionnaire after the activity, most students enjoyed making speeches and also enjoyed listening to their classmates. As a consequence, the activity helped develop a cooperative learning community in class. | |||||||||

| 内容記述 | [要旨]中等教育の外国語教育現場においては，「コミュニケーション能力の育成」がひとつのキーワードとして強調されている。しかしながら，学生を対象としてアンケートを行ったところ，「英語で自分の意見を発表する」という経験のない者が大多数を占めている実情が明らかとなった。この状況を考慮した上で，初歩的な自己表現能力の育成を目的としてShow & Tellを導入した。全体の構想を練るにあたり，一連の活動を通じて少しずつ自信を積み上げていけるよう，情意面への配慮を強く意識した。この活動を通して多くの学生は自己表現活動を楽しみ，またクラスメートとの学びの共有に大きな意義を見出したようだ。 | |||||||||
