| 内容記述 | In the treatise, an attempt has been made to translate Friedlich von Schiller's work "Die Zerstőrung von Troja, Neu übersetzt"(chapter 42-59)，which was adopted from Vergil's second book of "Aeneid," into Japanese. This is a sequel to the Friedlich von Schiller, Die Zerstőrung von Troja, (Freie Übersetzung des zweiten Buchs der >>Aeneide<<), Japanische Übersetzung(1), in: Kindai University, Center for Liberal Arts and Foreign Language Education Journal 7 (1), p.129-158, 2016. This also includes some commentaries. While Vergil's Aeneid is written in the ancient traditional "hexameter" rhythm, "die Zerstőrung von Troja" is composed in a relatively free form named a "stanza，" which consists of eight lines and is not bounded by strict rules of rhythm like a hexameter. Schiller did not translate the Aeneid word for word; sometimes, he translated exciting scenes in detail while boldly cutting out the redundant parts of the Aeneid. Schiller's work is not just a literal translation of Vergil, but an almost original work containing his style of composing poetry and spirit as a German poet. He tried instead to suppress the original work and reproduce the world of the Roman masterpiece in German common language, which not only aristocrats, but also ordinary German citizens at that time (who could not read the Latin language) could easily understand. | |||||||||
