内容記述 | [Abstract] The enhancement of knowledge acquisition and information processing skills as part of the general development of human resources has become one of the main driving forces behind industrial progress. As a consequence of the emphasis on improving cognitive skills, any foreign language education program is now confronted with the challenge of educating people to produce not only practical but also meaningful communication. In foreign language education, the analysis of the close relationship between language and culture without differentiating between them is essential to developing talented personnel who are able to think and act independently. It is also helpful in expanding teachers’ cultural awareness allowing them to provide insightful commentary and deeper interpretation of issues to their students. This paper examines people’s experiences and perceptions as reflected in language expressions from a cognitive linguistic point of view as a methodology of foreign language education by using examples from Korean, Japanese, and English. This research is an updated version of an earlier work presented at the International Conference on Korean Language Education Asia 2016 and 2017. | |||||||
