Contrarily, there are few reports, so far, on EMT induced by uPAR through the fibrinolytic system. Therefore, in this study, uPAR was stably introduced into human retinal pigment epithelial cells (ARPE-19), and EMT induced by uPAR was investigated. In consequence, EMT-like changes could not be recognized in ARPE-10 by stably introduced uPAR alone, and collagen gel contraction could not be recognized, either. EMT could not be induced in the retina with a single stimulation of increased expression of uPAR.
