| 内容記述 | 研究成果の概要（和文）：本研究はヴィクトリア朝文学の物語展開における医療表象、特に看護行為の表象について、歴史的・文化的観点から分析を試みたものである。チャールズ・ディケンズやエリザベス・ギャスケルといった著名なヴィクトリア朝時代の作家の作品に登場する看護の場面が、物語展開において重要な転換点となっていることを考察した。さらに、オリーヴ・シュライナーやヴァージニア・ウルフといった、19世紀後半から20世紀初頭の女性作家の作品に描かれた看護行為についても、ヴィクトリア朝文学に見られる看護行為と同様の意義が見られることを明らかにした。 研究成果の概要（英文）：This research aims to explore the Victorian medical discourse, especially nursing activities, in the plot developments of the Victorian literature from historical and cultural perspectives. The focus is mainly on the notable Victorian writers like Charles Dickens and Elizabeth Gaskell, whose novels deal with the nursing scenes as the main turning point of their plots. Nursing scenes also have a strong influence on the characterization of the protagonists of their novels. Moreover, this study attempts to clarify the influence of Victorian gender ideology on the late Victorian and early 20th century novelists like Olive Schreiner and Virginia Woolf, who treat Victorian nursing discourse as one of the important scenes in their works. |
