 note = {研究成果の概要（和文）：　本研究の主な目的は、第1に、19世紀における功利主義や自由主義の歴史的展開を詳細に検討すること、第2に、それらがその後の経済学の発展を通じてどのように受容されていったのかを検証することである。以上を通じて、経済学の背後にある功利主義的・自由主義的思想の特徴を、可能な限り明確に浮かび上がらせるべく研究を進めた。経済思想の変遷を辿るために、自由主義やパターナリズムといった言葉が主要な経済学者においてのみならず、新聞記事を含む当時の多様な議論でどのように活用されたのかについても調査を実施した。そしてJ.S.ミルの経済思想を中心に据えながら論文の刊行や国内外の学会での研究成果の発表などを実施した。
研究成果の概要（英文）：The main objectives of this paper are as follows. First, I focused on the historical development of utilitarianism and liberalism in the nineteenth century. Second, I examined how they were accepted through the development of economic doctrines. Through the above examinations, I tried to emphasize the characteristics of utilitarian and liberal ideas. In order to follow the transition of economic ideas, I also examined how the word such as ‘liberalism’ and ‘paternalism’ were employed not only in major economic thinkers but also in diverse discussions at the same time including newspaper articles. Whilst focusing on J. S.
