Therefore, this study clarifies that the entertainment performances on the street were reduced in the Showa 30s as compared to that in the Edo period. This change is considered to have influenced the decline of the entertainment performances, and the spatial meaning of streets was changed from being an open space to having functional priority that was controlled by the public, after the Meiji Era. Further, commercial transactions on the streets were reduced in the present age as compared to that in the Showa 30s.
