| 内容記述 | [Abstract] Research was conducted on medical emergencies in the year 2000 and the current condition of emergency medical care on golf courses. Questionnaires were mailed to 474 golf courses in the Chugoku, Shikoku, Kyushu and Okinawa regions. 158 golf courses sent back the Questionnaires. The results show that in the above 158 surveyed golf courses a total of 539 accidents happened for the year 2000 including 136 accidents that needed ambulance request and 29 fatal ones. More detailed analyses on items that could be identified were done: cause of accidents, monthly change in the number of ambulance requests. Precise data on past fatal accidents since the opening of the golf courses was obtained. Among the security and emergency system items, the following was surveyed: tie-up with medical institutions, emergency contact, availability of certified medical staff, caliber of person in charge and current situation on emergency medical care training. The results show that at present these safety measures are not adequate enough. Players' low awareness of what golf is really for and lack of attention to the rules of golf greatly contribute to the cause of these accidents. A change in mindset should be made; from golf for pleasure and business entertainment to golf as a healthy sport for walking for middle-aged and elderly persons who generally have higher risks of life-related diseases. This research gave us data that can be used to make recommendations for the promotion of a safe and healthy golf culture in Japan. | |||||||||||||||||
