内容記述 [Abstract] This research considers the relation of the mental growth of an athlete and the acquisition of life skill which narrative in an athlete's self-narration by using narrative approach. For 96 athletes, the report was imposed and it had an interview if needed. The subject of reports was "Self-narration which through sport". The dominant story discussed by narrative approach was found out by an athlete's self-narration. Many of an athlete's dominant stories were the positive things supported to acquisition of life skill, or mental growth. When an athlete tells a self narration, in many cases, it is told vividly. The story being retold and generating a new story was checked. Moreover, an athlete's self-narration was constituted by each dominant story and generating a riper dominant story in a game, practice, and various encounter with the others (manager/ head coach/ coach/ athlete etc.) was suggested. Many of athletes tell continuing a sport and following better life in the generated story, supporting by the dominant story of self. An athlete's self-story was checked that a new story is generated [a game, practice, and] by it being various, and also performing "externalization of problem" and retelling in relation by a person. An athlete lives in the generated narration. And that a self-narration tells a story and by retelling a story, a new narration was generated and it was suggested that each dominant story plays an important role.
