内容記述 [Synopsis] In this report, the commitment and the present situation of Kuriyama Town about the reduction of garbage and promotion of reuse of it will be examined. 1.The wastes separated according to type in 2003 were 1,140 tons, a 41% increase compared to 2002, while 60 % of the garbage in green bags, which are for the other non-usable wastes for landfill was found separable resources according to the garbage quality survey conducted in November, 2003. Thus, we appealed to the townspeople for efforts to separate garbage in a meeting to explain the collection of fees by making this survey result a graphic form. 2.It is expected that over 2,000 tons of resources were mixed in landfill, and we explained it requiring the townspeople for further efforts. It was suggested that if each people in the town reduces 100 g of garbage everyday, in all 530 tons per year would be reduced, and another 530 tons could be reduced if they separate garbage according to type, thus 1,060 tons of landfills would be reduced annually. 3.Though it is in the middle of 2004, we could get a good result in separation and reduction of garbage after 10 months. It is obvious that the result came from the townspeople's understanding of environment and their efforts, and as the persons engaged themselves in environmental administration, we feel only grateful to the population. Hereafter, we would like to appeal to them for their understanding of continuation of waste separation and efforts like before in order not to "rebound". 4.Until now, 1. complete separation of wastes, 2. fee collection of disposal of wastes, 3. composting oforganic wastes are executed, and the above result was obtained, while the intermediate disposals for recycling of wastes after separation take an important position. Among them, carbonization disposal comes the first on the list, and its effectiveness is under investigation at present. 5.Though lots of efforts would be required to separate wastes discharged everyday, it is needed to appeal the importance of environment preservation, and the continuation of efforts to leave better environment for the future generation through further reduction of wastes and recycling of unused resources.
