| 内容記述 | [Synopsis] Environmental problems including eutrophication, soil degradation, and contamination of ground water are all caused by the disruption of material cycle in a regional scale. Six laws on managing waste and recycling have been enacted since the legislation of "Basic Law on Promoting the Formation of Recycle Oriented Society" in 2000 to realize sustainable society based on the principles of recycling. This study analyzes the cycling of nitrogen in one of the Yamato River basin, applying the "Bio-mass resources circulation diagnosis model", taking accounts of discharge and flows of nitrogen in a basin level. The model can examine the sources of environmental load and its connection and interaction with other economic and human activities. The model was verified by examining the fluctuation of contamination level of water body, where all pollutants are gathered, and by comparing it with the simulated results. The result was satisfactory with correlation coefficient of 0.78. In addition, the established nitrogen flow model was utilized to test the effectiveness of a measure to reduce nitrogen load in a river basin. The result indicated that the nitrogen load could be reduced 10-38% of the present level by introducing river water to paddy fields during non-irrigation period. Further refinement of the reproducibility of the model would be needed in such areas as estimating the nitrogen level of river mud, the accumulation of nitrogen in paddy fields, and others. Such modelwould be useful to manage the environment and identify measures to conserve and enhance the quality of the environment. | |||||||||||||||||
