内容記述 | [Synopsis] Three different methods of treating organic waste resources were analyzed by incorporating the environmental cost (discharge of global warming gas) in the direct economic cost analysis. LCA (life cycle assessment) was applied to calculate the discharge of global warming gas of CO_2, CH_4, and N_2O. The discharge of CH_4 and N_2O was converted to CO_2 equivalent by applying the conversion factor incorporating the impact on global warming. To avail the comparison of different materials and treatment facilities, costs or impacts per unit treatment of carbon or organic waste (dry weight basis) were calculated. The results showed that the operating cost of the treatment plant, particularly electricity, was the biggest cost component, followed by the transportation cost of organic waste. As such, the plant with less intensive electricity requirement (pile-composting method) was most efficient in terms of environment and economic costs, followed by integrated treatment plant (compost and biogas electricity generation), and conventional method of incineration and purification. Depending on the composition of organic waste, different methods of treatment would be needed,which could affect the outcome of the analysis. However, the establishment of a treatment system with less energy input and with integrated processing/reuse mechanism will be very important for sustainable treatment and reuse of organic waste. | |||||||||||||||||||||
