Native Japanese-speaking students were trained on two English minimal pairs. Two research questions were asked: 1) To what extent can the success of perceptual training studies conducted by a native English speaker be replicated by a non-native teacher using an audio device? 2) How will students react to the training? The effectiveness of the training was measured by pre-training and post-training tests. The results of the testing showed that clear gains were made.
