内容記述 | The Paris Universal Exposition of 1878 was held just two years after the Philadelphia International Exhibition, and the attendance to the Exposition was decided during the term of the Exhibition of 1876 . Although there seemed to be a relationship between both exhibitions, there were some differences. In this report, these relationships are considered, along with the differences through the commissioners of both exhibitions, the exhibiters who visited and had activities at the both places, and the design book for Japanese exhibits, Ontizuroku. It also introduces the Japanese buildings which were erected at both exhibition sites by Japanese carpenters. The exhibiters of these buildings at both exhibitions were different. Japanese exhibits at the Paris Universal Exposition of 1878 led to a crazy boom in Japonisme in Paris. However Japonisant in France doubted the progress of Japanese art and decorative art, because of Japanese opportunism toward Western culture after the Meiji Restoration. | |||||||||
