Most of the obvious differences have been introduced by rapidly changing technologies that have altered the way office records are updated and maintained and how office space is utilized. The office secretary is a professional occupation not only because of the knowledge and preparation necessary for job but also because of being a professional implies competence, pride in one's work, and a dedication to excellence. Moreover, the secretary is an important member of the management team, responsible not only for carrying out the executive's wishes but also for helping to maintain a well-organized and efficient office.
