| 内容記述 | [Abstract] There are two types of mydriasis secondary to blowout fracture, due to damage of : (1) the ocular muscle, (2) the pupillomotor neurofibers.Most traumatic mydriasis is seen after surgical repair ; however, there are few reports of traumatic mydriasis being observed prior to the corrective procedure. We encountered a rare case involving a 17-year-old high school boy. He was brought to our institution after a baseball had hit his left eye. On initial examination diplopia, traumatic mydriasis, and blowout fracture of the left orbit were diagnosed. Reparative surgery was performed 9 days after the accident. Following the completion of surgery, mydriasis of the left eye was the same as that before the operation. However, mydriasis of the left eye returned normally several weeks after the procedure. All plastic surgeons should have precise knowledge of the eye structure and execute very meticulous surgical techniques during the reparative procedure for successful outcome. | |||||||||||||||||
