In proportion to the hypotensive effects, ophthalmoscopic scores of general narrowing or caliber irregularity of retinal arterioles showed marked effects in the combined therapy group. In the captopril alone group, there was a slight decrease in the blood pressure from 20 to 30 mmHg. Howerer, the rats lived markedly longer than those in the non-treated group and as long as those in the combined therapy group.
