Determination of the Age Limitation 岩本, 壮太郎 イワモト, ソウタロウ 小西, 正良 コニシ, マサヨシ Osteon Femur Humerus Age estimation Quantitative histological age changes of the four items, number of osteon/mm^2, number of interstital lamellae/mm^2, size of osteon and diameter of Haversian canal were examined on the ground cross section of the femur and humerus obtained from 60 Japanese males aged 45 to 102 years. Based on multiple regression analysis, it was cleared that the samples were classified into two groups, aged 45 to 75 (general) and over 76 (aged). According to the regression equations, more than 95% of the estimates was statistically within ±11.5 years on the femur, and ±8.8 years on the humerus of the actual age in the general group, and ±7.3 years on the femur, ±10.4 years on the humerus in the aged group, respectively. The histological age changes of the four items in the general group were similar between the femur and the humerus but this tendency was not recognized in the aged group. The relation of the changes between the general group and the aged group appeared discontinuously.
