The conservation programs ongoing in animals are in situ conservation (conservation of ecosystems in the natural habitat to maintain or recover the population of species), and ex situ conservation (maintain or recover the population of species outside their natural habitat by artificial reproduction at zoos, aquariums, etc.). In both conservation programs, maintenance or recovery of population and genetic diversity are required, and the establishment of artificial reproduction using the germ cells from as many individuals as possible for successful ex situ conservation. Here, we introduce and discuss three potential reproductive techniques to achieve successful ex situ conservation, 1) germ cell preservation and artificial insemination, 2) in vitro production of germ
